Contargo acquires container transport Berry
In order to ensure the continuity of Transports Berry, Frank Van Berwaer decided to transfer the activities to a professional player. The M&A expertise of De Putter & Co was asked to look for a suitable acquirer and found one in Contargo Road Logistics.
Berry is mainly active in container transport to and from the Benelux, France and Germany. Frank Van Berwaer, who successfully developed container transport Berry over the past 30 years, remains responsible for the further development of the organization as Branch Manager of Contargo Berry BV. With 24 inland terminals and +1200 employees, Contargo handles a yearly throughput of over 2 million TEU and is one of the leading container hinterland logistics networks in Europe. With this acquisition, Contargo strengthens the supply of container transport within its trimodal concept of water, rail and road transport and its presence in the port of Antwerp. The M&A team of De Putter & Co searched and found a suitable acquirer for Apton BV with ID Logistics. ID Logistics herewith further expands its range of distribution and night deliveries in the Benelux.
ID Logistics was founded in 2001 in France. This global contract logistics player is currently active in 17 countries at more than 350 locations. In 2021, it achieved a turnover of € 1.9 billion. In the Benelux, ID Logistics has 600,000 m² of warehouses and 1,700 employees. With the acquisition of Apton, ID Logistics is strengthening its transport offer in Belgium. This acquisition is part of a growing strategy, both organically and through the takeover of a healthy family business, with all staff and vehicles housed within the ID Logistics organisation. Apton is mainly active in distribution and dedicated transport.
